Are you going to be visiting Albuquerque, NM this summer? Traveling with the kids or grandkids and looking for some family attractions in Albuquerque? Did you know New Mexico had a Wildlife Park just 20 minutes from Albuquerque AND it’s a wonderful music venue as well. I’m here to tell you about some great fun right next to the Duke City.
Wildlife West is a Nature Park in nearby Edgewood, NM. It is a straight shot east from Albuquerque on Interstate 40. This is not your run-of-the-mill nature park, as their emphasis is on flora, fauna and ecosystems of New Mexico and the Southwest. Education is a primary goal, and the utmost care is given to provide the animals with a natural habitat that will allow them to thrive. All the animals are unable to return to their wild homes for various reasons and are given the best possible life at Wildlife West as guests of honor and educators of humans.
Wildlife West also provides a unique venue for New Mexico Music. To start – they have Chuckwagon Suppers on Saturday nights in the summer months, complete with great musical entertainment such as Western and Bluegrass music. They will also be hosting a Music Festival this summer. Scheduled Artists are: John McCutcheon, The Badly Bent, Dave Firestine and Round The House, Syd Masters & The Swing Riders, The Squash Blossom Boys, Triple L Band. Folk, Bluegrass, Western, Irish and more – you can’t beat this lineup of fantastic music, all in one place.
