I almost forgot to tell everyone about the return of the Sandhill Cranes in Albuquerque, and an event that marks this return. Since I was out of town I was neglectful, but I have returned to my post just in time to say…get ye to the City of Albuquerque Open Space Visitor Center this Sunday for the last day of the Return of the Sandhill Cranes Celebration Weekend. The celebration started today, but it’s not too late. Besides the great viewing areas there are for watching the cranes and other birds in the fields at the Visitor Center, Here’s what else is happening:
All Day: Origami Cranes, folding and sales
9am: Yoga with the Cranes: $15
11:30am: Life of the Sandhill Crane: Tim Mitchusson, Crane Specialist for NM Game and Fish, discusses the life history, habitat, and migration patterns of the Sandhill Crane.
1:30 pm: Cottonwood String Quartet
While you’re there at the Visitor Center, check out the Ancient Drawings Exhibit, but don’t worry if you want to spend all your time with the cranes, because the Drawings exhibit will be there until November 29.
