Albuquerque is a very diverse city catering to more special interests than a US Senator. So if you are in town for the International Balloon Fiesta please consider a break away from the norm and see the real Albuquerque. Here are my first set of offerings for the beginning of October 2009. I will dig up a few more for you and post again in the next day or two, but this is a real fine start. Here goes…
Fri, Sat, Sun - Oct 2, 3 & 4
My Big Fat Greek Festival
Grecian Festival hits St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church (308 High SE). It’s Greek, it’s a festival, and there will be food, ouzo and music…need I say more?
Do you like horror movies? Fri & Sat, Oct 1 & 2 at 11pm. Get to the Guild Cinema at 3405 Central NE, for the Full Moon Horror Road Show 2009. See filmmaker Charles Band and the 1985 cult classic, Trancers. All seats $5. Such a horrific deal!

Now here’s something different to do… Fred Tenney’s Postcard and Paper Show, also at Expo New Mexico, Friday, Oct 9, 10am tp 6pm and Saturday, Oct 10, 10am to 4pm. Admission is only $5 for both days, unless you are a collector wanting a sneak peak for $20 on Friday morning at 9am. The show will be held in the flower building.
Lastly – Support Albuquerque locally owned businesses and save money too. The Alibi, Albuquerque’s weekly alternative view newspaper has half off coupons for many businesses in town and on the fringes. Hurry up, as they are selling out fast! Go to the Alibi web site coupon page to purchase.
I see a great coupon for the Ponderosa Eatery & Saloon is still available – so snatch one fast and head out for a scenic drive on NM Hwy 337 (formerly south 14), and food and drinks at the Ponderosa.
I know the best things to do in Albuquerque!

Hi there – I came across your site while looking for timing
on the Grecian Festival. I’d love to have you check out our place
in Rio Rancho. We’re new and operating a fun, hip, upscale market
with art, resale, produce, crafts, local business enterprises
and live music every weekend. Oct 2/3/9/10 we have extended hours 9a-4p for our first ‘Christmas in October’ event. We are definately not your typical outdoor market and are not a flea market or growers market. Please come visit and meet me – the vendors always can find me running around or visiting in the booths. Love to meet you and love to have you visit us. Free admission, parking and come hungry.
Call anytime –
