B&B Chihuahua and Chiweenie, New on Staff at Adobe Nido

This is Lady...the tough little hard body Chihuahua. She's a lover, not a fighter, despite the menacing look in this pose.

We have two new staffers at our Albuquerque bed and breakfast. The first new member of our staff comes to us by way of our daughter and this staffer is called Lady. She is a bed and breakfast greeter and will also double as a surrogate pet for our guests, when needed. Lady is a purebred Chihuahua, but she is a very lean and muscular girl. She can be a bit barky, but it is all in good taste. She thinks she is our doorbell but she doesn’t have any other of the regular Chihuahua behavioral problems, such as nipping, biting or other general bad attitude. She loves having guests in the house and will always be happy in a welcoming lap. She just tells everyone “there’s someone in the house again” every time someone walks in.

Besame, Besame mucho, aka the face eater! Our B&B Greeter in Training. Ain't nothin but a hound dog? - she's so much more!

Lady is training another new staff member, our new pup Besame. Besame is Spanish for “kiss me”, which she does, but in her exuberance it is much more like face eating. This will change, I hope. We’re calling her Bessie most of the time. Bessie came from Albuquerque’s Enchantment Chihuahua Rescue and is 1/4 Dachshund. This cross breed has the common name “Chiweenie”. Right now Bessie is only 5 month old. She is smaller than Lady, but not by much. We are unsure what she is going to look like when she grows up, but for now she is just plain cute, sometimes looking like a Chihuahua, and some times looking very much like a hound dog. She really doesn’t look like a Dachshund, but is a little bit long in the body and has lots of extra skin to grow into. Bessie also loves guests and we are quite sure she will become another fine B&B Greeter Dog.

We have always owned large dogs – 50 -90 lbs, and how we ended up with these little creatures is beyond me, but we are loving it. Whoda thought? This is a very different experience for us and we laugh out loud at ourselves every day for this change in scenery. Next – I guess we will set aside a specific B&B room and start accepting pets. OMG! Did I just say that?
